Impact Investing

Scholz Nonprofit Law works with various types of 501(c)(3)s, including community foundations, donor advised funds, and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) to assist with traditional financing and impact investing, including program related investments (PRIs).

Scholz Nonprofit Law helps Impact Charitable fund for charitable activities through an array of donor advised funds and special impact funds. We assist with structuring and documenting investments and loans, advising on compliance related to 501(c)(3)s and DAFs, and providing general counsel-type advice. We have helped Impact Charitable support such projects as Black homeownership, green energy, Indigenous-owned businesses, and basic income programs.

Neta Foundation

From initial formation, IRS approval, and foundational policies and practices, Scholz Nonprofit Law has helped Neta Foundation launch an innovative charitable impact investing fund, affording donors such opportunities as making transformational investments in emerging technologies from leading research institutions.

Forward Community Investments

Scholz Nonprofit Law assists Forward Community Investments, a Community Development Financial Institution, with such matters as:

  • granting or receiving funding;
  • compliance as a CDFI and 501(c)(3) organization;
  • structuring of arrangements with investors and donors, including donor advised funds; and
  • board governance and other organizational policies

We also assist with real estate matters, such as the purchase of property to house One City Early Learning Center, preparation of a lease for One City, and the eventual sale of the property to One City.
